Chicken Sperm Cryopreservation: Review of Techniques, Freezing Damage, and Freezability Mechanisms

Ex situ preservation is an important method in the of chickens, and cryopreservation semen only for gamete at present. During last two decades, many studies have been performed to develop standard chicken technology achieve great progress. Many attempts methods were investigated adapt subspecies or different breeds. In this paper, we firstly reviewed main factors affecting sperm, including unique structure characteristics spermatozoa. Secondly, on key points sperm technology, dilution, cryoprotectants, equilibration time, packaging types, freezing thawing rates summarized generate optimal parameters. Then, mechanism underlying damage freezability revealed by recent omics relevant efficiency discussed. This review will provide reference future investigation poultry technology.
